For 2020, there is ONE Moral Imperative, and that is to SAVE THE COUNTRY FROM TRUMP! Assuming that he is not impeached, Trump must be defeated in the 2020 election. In normal times, differences between opposing candidates would be substantive and worthy of debate. However, these are not normal times.
We must remove the odious gangster currently residing in the White House, an imposter who lacks scruples as well as any knowledge or regard for the Constitution or Division of powers.
Democrats need to quit tearing each other down, and select the candidate who best meets the only criteria that really matters; the one with the best chance of beating Trump. I am increasingly convinced this needs to be a candidate that both Democrats and moderate Republicans can feel comfortable voting for.
It pains me to say this. My fellow progressives and I need to swallow a bitter pill for the greater good — the stakes are simply too high to gamble and lose. A dream deferred is better than a nightmare realized.
Democratic candidates—this cause is bigger than any one of you or your legions of followers. For the love of God, I implore you to show a united front, put your combined resources behind a candidate who can appeal to the middle. It is our best, and possibly, our only, option for defeating this corrupt President.
The United States is in the throes of a Democracy-threatening cancer; a rot that must be cut out before we can address our many other afflictions. If it takes a moderate white male to perform that life-saving surgery, so be it; I will be the first in line to hand him the scalpel.
