This week we let out a collective sigh and celebrated–if only for a well-deserved  moment or two. Although Trump and his minions still hold most of the cards, they no longer have all of them;  a degree of checks and balances have been restored.  This is cause for celebration!  All the stumping, donating, ranting, marching and more has paid off!  Who knew Democracy would be so hard?

Here in Wisconsin – the news is just-shy of fantastic!  We finally dumped our tea-party, college-dropout, weasel-faced, union-busting, underhanded Governor of 8 years with an educated former educator; we re-elected the amazing Tammy Baldwin to the Senate, and we voted in a new attorney general, who will actually prosecute rape cases in our state once again.  The cloud in our state’s political coffee is that we elected another Republican to replace the odious Paul Ryan.

Even more exhilarating than our state’s retreat from embarrassing redness, is the record number of women that are now in the US House of Representatives!  The influx of diverse, energetic women into the national political scene bodes well for our future.  Hopefully, they will help steer our government for many years to come.

In the meantime, The Trump Shenanigans Train has resumed at high speed. The D fired Sessions, replacing him with a goon; and banned Jim Acosta from CNN from the White house.  Ever the showman, he successfully shifted the spotlight from election results back to his own orange noggin.

As we head into Thanksgiving… here are a few suggested toasts:

  • Here’s to the incoming fresh-women class to the House of Representatives!
  • Here is to the White House Media Corps – may they join their collective arms in defending a free press against the Liar-in-Chief
  • Here is to Ruth Bader Ginsburg… Ruth – please stay healthy and consider wrapping yourself in bubble-wrap for the next two years – PLEASE!
